invisible city leaves the land intact....invisible city builds below ground so that people can always enjoy the land...in
invisible city, the roofs are at ground level: permeable to light and air over the living areas, permeable to rain in the
garden areas...there are highways and byways in invisible city, but there are no signs or billboards anywhere..it looks
like a wilderness, but it is not...wireless ports in the landscape are indistinguishable from the landscape, and travelers
tune to the frequency that gives them directions and location on hand-held devices...at night, coyotes howl in some places,
frogs croak in some, and, in others, the crickets chirp under the sky...katydids
She proposes a solar commuter train be put in that space between cities. The median strip is a long expanse of grass that has to be mowed and maintained.
She applauds the efforts that many states have put into plantings and wildflowers
and, in many cases, small ecological habitats for wild creatures who are crowded out of the woodlands by builders, but in
most places there is plenty of room on the roadsides.
Those habitats need very little maintenance.
The train cars should be small and narrow, only one seat and an aisle.
Except in large and very crowded metro areas, many seats are wasted because
people don't like to sit next to strangers, so don't even waste your efforts. It's a self/not-self issue.
There should be solar panels on the tops of the train cars to collect solar
energy placed over the passenger side of the train, and filtered light panels over the aisles that emit enough light in overcast
days and filter out excess light on sunny days.
Price breaks should be given to people who are willing to pay for a month or
a year in advance to encourage funding the endeavor.
Each car should be fairly small. In case of malfunction or damage, the
cars could be switched out easily to minimize cost replacement and downtime.
She says if theme parks can do it, so can the government.
And it would probably be fun.

Ok, Bing, here it is:
The illustration above addresses the pressure problem in basement and underground house walls of poured
cement. After the outside walls are poured and cured and the forms have been removed, a brace (two slightly different
versions shown) of the correct size needs to be put on bedrock or on a level poured slab and abutted and affixed to the wall
by means of reinforcing rods which have been installed while the cement is still malleable.
This is a lot of work, but the idea is to construct an enduring and dry underground building that you will be proud
of. The size and angle of the brace must be calculated in regards to the height and thickness of the wall and depth of
the room and all other factors to determine where the most physical pressure will fall after it is bermed in. You might
wonder if the braces shouldn't be put on the inside of the wall to counteract the pressure from the outside fill, but the
hope is that they will act like lightning rods, as it were, and channel the energy of the outside pressure away from the walls,
preventing fissures or worse.
Of course, it would be best if the brace were of one poured metal piece rather than welded parts, but if
you weld, then make sure it is riveted securely. You may place as many as deemed necessary. After all is firm
and secure, then you can install the circular drain and gravel fill, and, lastly, the earth berm.
